Extend bills in credits at $0.0125 each on Pay As You Go. In Performance mode a parse is 2 credits per page ($25 per 1,000 pages), and a structured extraction is 5 credits ($62.50) once you count the parse that runs automatically before it. Classification is 3 credits ($37.50) and splitting 4 credits ($50), both including that auto-parse. Light mode swaps in lighter models and cuts each operation by roughly four times, so extraction drops to about $15 per 1,000 pages. Optional review and correction agents add 1 credit ($12.50) each, and a fully agentic extraction can reach 8 credits per page ($100). Every account starts with 10,000 free credits, and the Scale plan is $500 a month for 50,000 credits at $0.01 each. Against plain cloud OCR at $1.50 per 1,000 pages, Extend is 17 to 40 times more, because you are paying for an agent-ready pipeline, not cheaper OCR.

Two things that change the real cost

The headline rates are honest, but two rules in the credit-consumption docs move the number people quote.

The auto-parse stacking trap

Extend parses a document automatically before it extracts, classifies or splits, and it bills both operations. So the 3-credit extraction is really 3 plus 2 parse credits, which is 5 credits per page, or $62.50 per 1,000 pages, not the $37.50 the 3-credit number suggests. Classification becomes 3 credits and splitting 4. If you already parsed a document, reusing that result avoids paying the parse twice, the same way Reducto lets you extract against a job id. Budget on the stacked total.

Mode and review agents

The Performance-versus-Light switch is a roughly 4x lever you set per request: a Performance extraction is 5 credits ($62.50 per 1,000 pages) and the same job in Light mode is about 1.2 credits ($15). On top of that, the optional Extraction Review Agent, Agentic Text Correction and Agentic Table Correction each add 1 credit per page ($12.50). Turn all three on with a Performance extraction and you reach 8 credits per page, which is $100 per 1,000 pages, the real ceiling.

How do Extend credits work?
You buy credits and every API call spends a set number based on the operation, the page count and the mode. Credits cost $0.0125 each on Pay As You Go, or $0.01 on the $500-a-month Scale plan, which includes 50,000 credits. In Performance mode, parsing is 2 credits per page, extraction 3, classification 1 and splitting 2, and because Extend parses automatically before it extracts, classifies or splits, those operations also spend the 2 parse credits.
Why does an Extend extraction cost 5 credits when the docs say 3?
Because Extend runs a parse automatically before it extracts, and it bills both. Extraction is 3 credits per page, but the automatic parse adds 2 credits, so a real extraction is 5 credits per page, which is $62.50 per 1,000 pages, not the $37.50 the 3-credit figure implies. The same stacking applies to classification (1 plus 2 parse = 3 credits) and splitting (2 plus 2 = 4). Budget on the total, not the headline operation credit.
What is the difference between Extend Performance mode and Light mode?
Mode is a speed-versus-cost switch you set per request. Performance mode uses heavier models: parse 2 credits, extract 3, classify 1, split 2. Light mode uses lighter models at roughly a quarter of the cost: parse 0.5 credits, extract 0.7, classify 0.3, split 0.5. A Performance-mode extraction with its auto-parse is 5 credits ($62.50 per 1,000 pages); the same job in Light mode is about 1.2 credits ($15). Light suits clean, simple documents; Performance suits dense or degraded ones.
Is Extend free?
Extend gives every new account 10,000 free credits to start. At the Performance-mode extraction rate of 5 credits per page, that covers about 2,000 pages of extraction, or 5,000 pages of plain parsing at 2 credits each, before you pay $0.0125 per credit. Extend does not publish an expiration on the starter credits the way Landing AI expires its free tier after 90 days, but treat any ongoing workload as paid from the start.
How much does Extend cost with the review agent turned on?
The optional agents each add credits per page. The Extraction Review Agent adds 1 credit ($12.50 per 1,000 pages), Agentic Text Correction adds 1, and Agentic Table Correction adds 1. A fully agentic Performance extraction, meaning extract 3, auto-parse 2, review 1, text correction 1 and table correction 1, is 8 credits per page, which is $100 per 1,000 pages. That is the real ceiling, and it is double the already-high base extraction rate.
How much does the Extend Scale plan cost?
Scale is $500 a month and includes 50,000 credits, then $0.01 per additional credit, which is a 20 percent discount on the $0.0125 Pay As You Go rate. At the Light-mode extraction rate of about 1.2 credits per page, 50,000 credits covers roughly 40,000 pages a month; at the Performance-mode 5-credit rate it covers about 10,000 pages. Enterprise pricing is custom with a lower per-credit rate.
Is Extend cheaper than Reducto or LlamaParse?
Not on a like-for-like extraction. Extend Performance extraction is $62.50 per 1,000 pages against Reducto standard extract at $30 and LlamaParse structured extract from $7.50. Extend Light extraction at about $15 is competitive, and a plain Extend parse at $25 sits between LlamaParse Agentic ($12.50) and Landing AI DPT-2 ($30).
